New in Newark: The Burrito Bus

The Burrito Bus
1551 West Church Street
(parking lot of the Beverage Source)

Open Monday to Friday 11 am to 3 pm

While this is a site about Taco Trucks in Columbus, we do dabble in outside of 270 eats on occasion. Well, OK once, we went to Springfield. Anyway, Newark is close and the report of a Taco Truck in central Ohio got our attention. Since it would probably get your attention too, here is a short report so you can make an informed decision.

The Burrito Bus is a gringo operation serving Mexican themed fare. Hot Mama Burritos ($5) with your choice of chicken, ground beef, carnitas (shredded pork) or Cajun tofu served with rice and beans, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, shredded cheese, sour cream and jalapenos are the mainstay. Other offerings include: tacos de americanos, Nachos Gringos, Papa’s Taco Salad, a burrito bol (a la Chipotle) and Pita de Pollo – a chicken taco using pita bread.

This a newer operation and we salute the rise of mobile food in Newark especially if it is Latin themed. Buenos suerte.

I wonder how the two cities compare. Sounds like it is easier to get a truck there than it is Houston, which is why we don’t see very many. All we have is every other business is a Mexican Restaurant!

I was wondering why the short hours of operation? I was wanting to eat some tacos but won’t get into Newark until 5:30 because of work.

  2. Glad to see your taco team branching out and seeing more taco trucks. Keep up the good work and let’s go eat a taco sometime.Maybe your team and mine could meet for tacos somewhere in the middle. Please check out my awards for this year for the Tacobloggos. at It’s all good when there’s a taco and good homemade salsas to be had. Happy Holidays from all of us

I have nothing good to say about this bus. Soupy tacos really suck.

Paco’s Tacos on Cedar Street in Newark is far better food and a much warmer staff.

  4. I live close by and have never seen this truck at this location. You may want to call first.

Thanks Madclaw for mentioning the recent addition Paco’s Tacos across from the cemetery on 79 North. Checked it out yesterday and the food was very home-made and good.

  5. I noticed the bus was there and active yesterday, July 31, 2011, so it’s still going. I haven’t eaten there.

Hi just found your site…nice work!! Although our mainstay is our Hot Mama Burrito…our tacos are pretty good also. Everything is made to order so if you want more of something on your food you get it just the way you like it. We mainly stick to big events festivals, city festivals.. etc We are now planning to break into the Columbus market since there really isn’t much of a market in Newark..You can find us on Facebook (The Burrito Bus) or on Twitter @theburritobus to see what we are up too.. Thanks.. see you on a street or at a festival
